Anthony oversees the creation and implementation of the vision, mission, and direction of Cogent Waste Solutions. He is a chief architect of the company’s organizational blueprint, and administers the execution of Cogent’s brand strategy.

Anthony ensures that Cogent remains compliant with all state and local laws in New York City, and supervises acquisitions that enhance the company’s value. As a founder with over 20 years of experience in waste and recycling, he is actively engaged in all aspects of the business. He manages an executive team overseeing the success of the organization's reputation, attention to growth, and overall customer satisfaction. Anthony ensures company compliance and excellence in all services through proper staffing, management oversight, capital allocation, and key initiatives, with an emphasis on long term partnerships and contracts. He has completed over 25 add-on acquisitions across multiple solid waste and recycling platforms and investments with a specialization in the industrial waste sector.

Anthony learned the garbage business from the ground up, initially starting as a driver with a single truck. Under the leadership of Anthony and his brother Nino, Cogent Waste has grown to become one of New York City’s largest recycling and waste hauling companies, serving over ten thousand businesses. Anthony and Cogent have donated to multiple charitable groups and foundations, including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Star Lite Foundation, Covenant House for kids, and many more. They have also established the Cosimo Tristani Scholarship Foundation in their father’s name at Xaverian High School in Brooklyn. Anthony is a graduate of Fordham University.

Nino presides over high-level operations at Cogent Waste. Bringing decades of experience to the table, Nino excels at all aspects of personnel management, from swiftly identifying the unique strengths and abilities of his employees, to consistently matching the right person to the right role, to unlocking the full potential of every member of the team.

Nino also oversees the implementation of special projects and programs related to the Zero Waste Initiative in New York City at all Cogent facilities, including the implementation of “Cogent Organics” in Brooklyn, New York. He successfully secured and implemented a permit/contract for over 100 tons per day of private and NYC DSNY organics.

His career in the recycling/waste industry spans over 20 years, giving rise to extensive management experience, including in the fields of safety and compliance. Starting with a fleet as small as 5 trucks, he now oversees a program of over 100 mix use waste transportation vehicles and multiple facilities. His career began with the family-owned Rapid Recycle, where he implemented turnkey, modern-day changes, bringing an outdated business to the forefront and innovating into one of New York City’s waste and recycling leaders. Currently, he has begun implementation of Cogent Waste's participation in NYC Commercial Waste zones, and expects a seamless operational transition into the future of the company.

Denise graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting. She is a certified public accountant.

 

Since the beginning of her career in public accounting, she has been involved with numerous businesses in the Solid Waste Industry, including Waste Hauling, Waste by Rail, Landfills, Recycling Companies, and Transfer Stations.

 

Denise has 30 years of public accounting experience with in-depth knowledge of multiple industries. She is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Jay Gomez is a results-driven sales leader with a proven track record. He has served as the NYC Sales Manager for Cogent Waste Solutions LLC for the past 14 years. Bringing more than 20 years of experience to his role on the Executive Leadership Team, he develops, coordinates, and implements comprehensive sales and marketing plans that complement the business and drive revenue growth.

 

Jay’s responsibilities at Cogent Waste include assisting with new customer solicitation, bid preparation, and customer retention strategies. He communicates regularly and proactively with clients to identify customer needs and changing business requirements. He also completes customer setups, required sales reporting, and waste diversion metrics, and develops customer LEED reporting with green building council guidelines.

 

Jay has extensive experience in the local New York, East Coast, and national accounts markets, having spent 8 years with Waste Management of NY in Brooklyn (1999-2007). Jay managed the Major Accounts role, where his responsibilities included driving profitable sales growth across multiple business units.

 

Jay has served as a frequent industry speaker on topics related to the importance of proper waste removal, single stream recycling, and organic waste development programs, including the NYC Mayor’s Zero Waste Challenge.
