Cogent Waste Solutions LLC, a family-owned business, upholds a long-standing tradition of giving back to the community it serves. On Tuesday, Nov 21, executives and staff gave out over 250 turkeys to company employees and residents in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. Residents of the Bushwick Housing complex were ecstatic as families are facing high inflation and food insecurities were treated to a free turkey giveaway.
According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, a 16-pound turkey costs a little more than $27 on average, so for hundreds of families the giveaway helped alleviate some of the costs of Thanksgiving dinner.
Throughout 2023, Cogent Waste made charitable contributions to non-for-profit organizations that supported families in need. This volunteer effort dates back years, to when Cosimo Tristani, himself an Italian immigrant, understood the need to stand by the community he proudly served. He is now followed by his two sons Anthony and Nino Tristani.
